A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life was a series of posts on the Rochester BDSM mailing list about getting involved in RKS. Written by RKS' Social Coordinator, Karra (and occasional guest authors), the series is first-person, including thoughts and fears experienced by those new to the community. Karra wrote in the introduction to the series:

I also know the majority of the subscribers here are either curious about BDSM in general and come here to get information and ask questions. Others of you are interested in more, much more than this list can offer you.

That is why I am writing to you, to introduce myself to you and to let you know beginning with this email I will share a bit about real-life BDSM and the Rochester Kink Society (RKS).

Hopefully after sharing more with you here about what it is we do at RKS, you may be interested in checking the group out and perhaps joining at a later date.

I know we have lurkers here also and perhaps you have questions but don't want to necessarily post them here, well, now we are offering you an alternative to get answers to your questions.

We hope this will be an informal yet informative way to learn about our group, and to prepare you for getting involved.

Attending a Party as a Guest

Written by angel Wow. My first RKS play party. Tonight's the night. Let's see... I met a bunch of nice people at a munch and decided I wanted to pursue my interest in the group. I'd chatted with one Board member in particular for quite awhile at the munch, and when I emailed her later about my interest in attending a party, she said she'd be happy to have me as her guest once she asked the Board. So she had emailed the rest of the Board of Directors and got permission for me to come. ...

What it's like to attend a Workshop or demo

Ok, so you have come to a munch, or a social or maybe even both. You then took the plunge and came as a guest to a play party. You're not quite sure yet that you want to join but you are leaning that way more and more. You notice that there is a workshop coming up. Hey it's on a topic you would really like to know more about. You think ...
