Why join RKS?

The Rochester Kink Society is the largest pansexual social and educational group for people with alternative lifestyles in the Rochester area. It is one of the few groups in western New York which offers regular monthly meetings, munches, and workshops in addition to several play opportunities each month. Your membership in RKS not only affords you a myriad of social and educational opportunities, it also ensures that Rochester will continue to have a group available to educate and welcome those who are new to the lifestyle.

RKS is constantly expanding and improving. If you haven't seen the dungeon space recently, you'll be amazed at the improvements! You may also be surprised to see so many new faces eager to join in the fun and community that RKS offers. New members will be happy to discover the experience and breadth of knowledge available to them in the existing RKS community.

RKS members can enjoy the sensuous atmosphere and spectacular equipment of a dungeon in a setting that is close to home. While other groups in the western New York area have dungeons available for play, none compare in square footage or convenience of location. Having a world class dungeon right here in Rochester means that Rochester kinksters can enjoy an evening of play without the time or expense that it takes to drive to Buffalo, Syracuse, or Ithaca, and enjoy the convenience of going home to their own bed after a night of intense play instead of spending the night in a hotel.

How to Join

Membership is open to those 18 and over.

The first step is to meet us by coming to a munch (luncheon) or social.

Once we get to know you and learn about your interests, you may be invited to come to a party as a guest.

To finally join, you'll need to find a sponsor. Your sponsor's responsibility is to mentor you, introduce you to the subtleties of dungeon etiquette, and introduce you to other members of the group during your initial months.

When you first join, there will be a mandatory orientation session which takes about 30 minutes. During orientation, you'll complete the necessary paperwork, including an Assumption of Risk. The orientation person will review the RKS rules, explain the probationary period, give you a tour of the space if you've never been there before, and answer any questions you have.

Your first two months in the group, you'll be a probationary member (alternately called "trial member"), during which there are a few restrictions:

• If you want to invite guests, they must be approved by the board.
• You may not sponsor new members into the group.

During the trial period, you must attend at least two RKS events so we can see how you work with the group. At the end of trial membership, you'll be eligible for full membership - including inviting and sponsoring privileges.

Membership rates

Trial membership, applicable to all new members, is $30 for 2 months.

The rate for Silver membership is $75 per quarter (3 months), which includes entry to all parties, movie night, and meetings. Workshops are extra, with price varying depending on the presenter.

Gold membership is $135 per quarter and includes all the parties, workshops, a free guest pass per quarter, long-term use of a locker for storage, and gets you some private dungeon time as well.

Out-of-area membership applies to members who travel 60 miles or more to Rochester and plan to attend only on an occasional basis. Membership is $30 for a year, with party fees of $15.

All rates are per-person. There are nominal discounts for couples/triads and for paying yearly.

Expectations

As a member or guest of RKS, you'll be expected to:

Play safe. Remain drug and alcohol free while at RKS events (except socials), check your partner's condition while scening, respect safewords, and clean equipment after use.

Be polite. Silence cell phones and pagers, don't interfere with others' scenes (keep voices low in the dungeon, walk around rather than through others' scenes), avoid monopolizing equipment, and put things away after use.

Respect other members' confidentiality and boundaries. Don't "out" other members, don't "out" the group (arrive in "drab" or "muggle" clothing and change after you arrive), don't spread news and rumors about other members' play, ask before touching people and toys, and accept "no" means no.

No penetration or exchange of body fluids. There is no toy or person-on-person penetration, and exchange of bodily fluids is prohibited.
